HUGE THANKS and SHOUT OUT to the AMPt team from AMPtcommunity.com for the featured interview. I’m glad to be part of a growing community of mobile artists from around the globe. I have in my pocket a device that not only makes phone calls, but enables me to take pictures and share them almost instantly with others. Mobile photography is a world-game-changer, and I’m excited take an active part in it. I discovered a passion that is very accessible for me and get to share it with people with the same passion (regardless of skill level) on AMPt!
The Book of Lamentations 3:22-23 says, “… His mercies never stop. They are new every morning…” (New Century Version) I drive by this garden on the way to work most days of the week. I’ll walk through just to remind myself to keep trusting in God even as this world keeps getting darker. I shot this with the Hipstamatic app on iPhone 5. Loftus lens + Blackeys SuperGrain film. No flash.
I participate in “Make Beautiful,” an assignment-based photography project organized and curated on Twitter and Instagram by HipstaChallenge. Samuel Gasc provides the daily themes for the whole month. Today’s theme is “Urban” and the interpretation is entirely up to the mobile photographer specifically shooting with the Hipstamatic app. I love the Hipstamatic app on the iPhone because I get to choose from a variety of old school lenses, films, and flashes from the analog days of photography. I typically do not do any post edits, so I challenge myself to get the shot right the first time. This image was shot with the Jane lens and DC film, with no flash nor additional lighting other than what existed in the store. Highlights from participating Hipstamatic shooters are found on Hipstamatic’s website, Instagram and Twitter.
It’s almost 4am in the morning, but I published Violen! My first published book. Here’s the link to the Blurb online store, and the eBook download $1.99. Check it out! You can’t even buy 2 overpriced mocha lattes for that price. It’s well worth the buy. Believe me… I read it a million times already! http://store.blurb.com/ebooks/388325-violen I am working on getting the eBook sold on iTunes and will give hard book prices very soon.
I have had stories in my head for 25 years: mostly stories for young people. Hey! I was one of those young people 25 years ago. I finally started writing draft a story in 1999. Years prior to that, I put ideas down in thinking maps. If I remember correctly, I finished the first draft in one night. Here I am 14 years later, on a mission to revive this dream and actually share stories with others. It is obvious that I need help along the way because I’ve never published anything before. I submitted a draft of my first story to a publisher a few years ago, and it came back. Discouraged but not crushed I asked a few artists to help illustrate the story and put my words into images, but the timing wasn’t right until now. I have been really with family and work, but this dream won’t die, no matter what I do. This time I’m going to see it through. Here it is. My plan is to use this site as my creative launch pad. Hope you enjoy the journey with me. Cheers!
